Remember that some time in the spring we are planning on "STRESSING" the microhabititat by introducting some adverse environmental factors. One of which might be detergents.

By next Friday (Nov 10) look up and write a short description of how detergents work to be handed into me and respond to Melissa's question: (for identification use Lowell_yourfirstname)

Should we think about using detergents as our environmental stress? What do you all think?

Mitosis and Meiosis

• Meiosis steps handout. Draw a cell going through Meiosis. Assume the cell has 4 chromosomes. Show at least one cross-over event occuring during the process. Start with the parent cell in Interphase and show steps through to a set of completed daughter cells. Note in detail what is happening in each step (IN YOUR OWN WORDS) and label the major parts of the cell drawing. If you need more space for the descriptions use the back of the drawing sheets.
• Internet Meiosis Tutorial online with problem set (Copy and paste the problem set questions into Word and complete with the proper answers in place)
• On a blank sheet(s) of paper (You can use the back of one of the handout sheets from above.) show an example of what would happen in your drawing from section 1 if NONDISJUNCTION occured.
